I Saw The Crosses On the Hill

I saw the crosses on the hill
and I wondered which was there for me
I had already given up trying to free myself from myself
I was trying to find something in my pocket
It was a watch with a broken face
The hands were spinning in a frenzy
I was ashamed
I saw the river coming down in a trickle from atop the hill
The bodies were writhing with the rhythm of the thunder
And how the rain came down
When the sign did melt
I felt my body agape on the hill
I estranged my skin
I was crawling on my exposed nerves
And the grass did grow up rusty
